We understand that when you visit websites, it’s not always easy to find the information for which you’re looking. That is why, in our continued efforts to better serve you, starting today, we’re going to publish a weekly online resources round-up blog post which will highlight some of the resources available to you on HUD.gov.
But we’re not stopping there. We’re also going to scour the Internet and bring to you resources that are available on other federal government websites that you may find useful on your quest for information.
To kick start our first weekly online resources round-up, we bring to you the following resources:
- Thinking about buying a home? Our home buying videos will guide you through the entire process from “Shopping for your home,” “Shopping for your loan,” to “Closing the deal.”
- Have questions about Federal Housing Administration (FHA) programs? Visit FHA’s FAQ web page
- If you’re searching for an affordable apartment in your area, visit our apartment search tool.
- If you’re a researcher searching for data, publications and reports, take a deep dive into our online library.
- Are you a business owner looking for information about federal programs that may help you grow your business? Head on over to the newly launched BusinessUSA website.
That’s it for today. Have a nice weekend! If you can’t wait until next week’s round-up, follow me on Twitter for tidbits on all things web and social media @eileenc_HUD

I am interested in buying a House (apartment) for the first time, and need to know what I need to do to find out if I qualify. The apartment would be for my only. I am single.
My annual salary is $26,707. I appreciate if you send me any form or document (if possible in Spanish) necessary.
My address: 2092 SW 7th Street. Miami, FL 33135.
very useful information.
I’m a first time homebuyer and we are a family of 7. How can I get a government grant towards a house? My friend had just bought a new house in staten island and got a 30,0000 grant towards his house and only had a family of 4.with only 15,000 out of his pocket…….in an excellent neighborhood…..please contact me. Thank you
Do you also have facebook? I’d be interested, thanks.
I’m disabled and living in housing. I have a problem with depression; therefore, got a cat to keep me company. My Whiskers died in May last year and my landlord is now asking for a $300 pet deposit, mainly, I believe because he hates cats. This is impossible for me to achieve, but I desperately need companionship. What I would like is a medium sized dog. I read 24 CFR Part 5, but it is hard to comprehend. My question is: Do I have the right, with a prescription from my doctor, to acquire a dog for companionship? Thank you for your assistance.
Greetings,
I have been trying to get a section 8 voucher
since June’11. I have met the PHA’s repeatedly
(3) different ones. I filled all of the paperwork out
twice, (They lost the first set). My lease on the apartment
I’m in now will be up in May. The PHA says “I have to contact
them by phone” I have been unemployed for over 3 years, I don’t have access to a phone. I have told him this over and
over.. My only contact is Email. He also sets up a meeting then doesn’t show up. He has my Email but neglects to send me any messages.. What can I do? My Emails to the HUD offices
keep getting Bounced Back…
Good job to you Eileen & the team who makes this all possible! It’s great to have all the helpful resources available in one page. That beats having to search on different sites for information that may or may not be useful. The weekly round-up is a great idea. We can maybe turn it into a Follow Friday if it catches on twitter.
