Tomorrow, the White House, HUD, and Neighborworks will join together to honor eleven housing counselors and HUD-approved organizations as Champions of Change for their hard work, perseverance and dedication to their communities. Their outstanding commitment and achievement represent the work of thousands of housing counselors across the country.
From preventing the foreclosure of homes to ensuring we know our housing right, housing counselors are on the ground serving and educating our communities. Their efforts are helping distressed homeowners understand foreclosure prevention options as well as how to avoid loan modification scams.
The Champions of Change program was created as a part of President Obama’s Winning the Future initiative. Each week, a different sector is highlighted and groups of Champions, ranging from educators to entrepreneurs to community leaders, are recognized for the work they are doing to serve and strengthen their communities.
