Today is my last day interning for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. It has been an awesome and rewarding 10 weeks! I have come to gain a greater appreciation of our federal servants and all of the hard work they do in order to sustain and improve our country.
I grew up in public housing and know the benefits that it can provide. This is why I choose to work here at HUD. I wanted to know the inner-workings of an Agency that hit so close to “home”. Now, having seen first-hand how this Department, and moreover, this Administration is working to tackle some of the most difficult challenges our country faces, I have an even greater appreciation, understanding and respect for HUD. Secretary Donovan and everyone at HUD share a deep dedication to fixing the housing market, eliminating homelessness, providing adequate affordable housing, advocating sustainability and numerous other issues.
As I move forward with my career, I will also not forget the people in the Office of Public Affairs. It has been a pleasure to work with such delightful and helpful individuals. Each one them has been more than willing to assist me, whether it be with work advice, career pointers or networking opportunities.
Lastly, thanks to all of you who read my blog posts and Daily Housing News Round-Ups. Seeing my name under the title of a post was and still is pretty cool to me. I hope you all enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. Farewell, HUDdlers.
