HUD announced $15 million in grants to more than 200 local housing authorities through its Public and Indian Housing Family Self-Sufficiency Program last week. Communities in Chicago, Chillicothe, Ohio, Vineland, N.J., and San Antonio will receive grants to help connect families with important agencies and services.

Secretary Donovan wrote about the importance of ending homelessness among veterans yesterday. A shelter in Ballston Spa, N.Y., announced it will open a new facility providing housing and assistance for homeless female veterans later this month.

He couldn’t take his Lakers to the finals, but Kobe Bryant earned some fans at HUD today – he plans to open a resource center for the homeless in Los Angeles.
