We are a few weeks away from the HOME Program Conference, Finding a New Way Home: The Next Twenty Years, scheduled for May 2-4th in Bethesda, Maryland. Since my last posting on March 30th, some wonderful progress has been made. The 20th Anniversary Door Knocker Award recipients have been selected and will be announced at the conference.
In addition to presentations from the Door Knocker Award winners, I am pleased to say that many great speakers have been confirmed and the exciting list of panelist and experts is growing. In addition to Secretary Donovan and myself, other presenters include: Allan Mallach, a visiting scholar from the Brookings Institution, who will speak about emerging demographic and real estate trends; Monte Franke, a nationally recognized HOME Program expert and trainer, who will speak about how to create responsible homeownership programs in the current market circumstances; and Peter Huber, Director of the Financial Management Division in the Office of Affordable Housing Programs, who will speak about successful financial management of the HOME Program. To view full description of the workshops and other invited speakers go to our conference website!
Conference planners are currently reaching out to schedule “Ask the Expert” appointments for registered participants (so get registered today as this opportunity is filling up quickly). HUD staff will be available during these appointments to answer your questions about a variety of topics.
The hotel room block ends April 15th and the hotel expects to sell out, so hurry and make sure you reserve your room as soon as possible! For hotel reservations please visit the hotel website.
